If you purchased the Explorer Plan and your money was stolen or lost while carried on your person or left in a locked safety deposit box then cover is available.
We define money as: cash, any legal currency, travellers’ cheques, cheques, postal and money orders held by you for social domestic and/or pleasure purposes.
You can claim up to £500 (UK policy)/ €625 (IRISH policy) per person for lost or stolen money although there is a maximum payable limit of £200 (UK policy)/ €250 (IRISH policy) per person for cash unless you are under 16 years, in which case the maximum payable is £50 (UK policy)/ €65 (IRISH policy).
There is also an excess of £75 (UK policy)/ €90 (IRISH policy) applied per person in the event of a claim (no excess applied to cash claims for those under 16 years).
Travel insurance is not designed to cover everything, so take the time to read the full description of cover in the policy wording so you'll know exactly what is and isn't covered.
Your claim may be denied if you did not exercise reasonable care in protecting your money against theft.
We’re here to help if you have a question about travel insurance.
